eKlectic Writing & Book Launch @LexiKal Live Lit Nite @Korova Arts Café and Bar Tuesday 3rd December 8pm – and it’s FREE!

The Fab new @Korova Arts Café and Bar is on St. Wilfrid’s Street, off Fishergate, Preston, close to the train station and is a-buzz with arts events and people – and is the perfect place to launch a book with some prize-winning friends – including Carys Bray, Rachel McGladdery, Norman Hadley, Terry Quinn, and Jae Erwin.

And then on Friday 13th December I’m doing a Meet The Author event at Accrington Library 10am – 12noon with readings and a Q&A session on everything from writing tips to self-publishing to the Witherstone novels themselves – and there’s even a free writing workshop too so that’ll be fun! Open to young adult readers and writers and adult readers and writers too, this is a FREE event supported by the fabulous Lancashire Libraries.

Tuesday 6th – Tuesday 27th September 2011 from 6.30pm – 8.30pm:

J. A. Brunning is running Intermediate Creative Writing Workshops for the Lancashire Writing Hub at The Continental, South Meadow Lane, Preston PR1 8JP.

A Four week creative writing course for Intermediate level writers: Enhancing creative skills, overall structure, & developing self-critical skills in redrafting. Includes professional constructive feedback.

The Intermediate course will be encouraging writers to develop and enhance their creative skills, think about overall structure in their work, and to develop self-critical skills in redrafting their work. At the end of the course you will receive constructive feedback on your “final” piece of work from a qualified University Creative Writing tutor. 

The cost is £50 total for this four week course, for 8 hours professional tuition and developmental feedback, or at the discounted rate of £40 if enrolling on more than one of these courses.

Working to develop a short story/opening chapters to a novel, with constructive feedback on your final piece of work.

Beginners/Refreshers Creative Writing Course – creative approaches and development. Course includes professional constructive feedback. The Course is for those new to writing, or keen to get back to writing, stimulating ideas and techniques, and refreshing and polishing up those basic skills. The course will aim to inspire you and get you writing creatively, beginning and developing a piece of work (short story, beginning of a novel, other creative prose) over the four week course. After the course itself finishes, you will receive constructive feedback on your final piece of work. If you want to take your progress further by enrolling on the Intermediate course in September, this will enable you to develop your work and your skills further.

The cost is £50 total for this 4 week course, for 8 hours professional tuition and developmental feedback.

J. A. Brunning is running a Taster Creative Writing Workshop for the Lancashire Writing Hub at The Continental, South Meadow Lane, Preston PR1 8JP.

Taster/Refresher creative writing workshop – only a fiver for two hours!

The workshop will involve brainstorming ideas and approaches to writing through fun writing exercises, and give you some really valuable starting points to get your creative ideas flowing – and for those of you interested in enrolling on any of the 4 week courses, this will give you some ideas for work you’d like to develop further, so can hit the ground running in the more developmental course.
